TEKS – Trondheim Elektroniske Kunstsenter / Trondheim Electronic Arts centre – was founded in January 2002 as a non-profit organisation. The Arts Council Norway initiated a process in 1999 for updating knowledge and skills amongst Norwegian artist regarding digital and electronic tools for artistic practice.
In 2000 I was assigned as the head of the newly established computer lab at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder, and in collaboration with the institution and the Arts Council Norway we eventually founded TEKS as an open source media-lab.
Trine E. Unander, invaluable co-worker since 2002, was the head of TEKS between 2005 and 2008.
TEKS is a resource and competence centre that has as a goal to realise and disseminate productions of techno related art projects within all art disciplines. TEKS is from 2010 arranging Meta.Morf, biennale for art and technology. The biennale is the successor of the annual festival for art and and technology – Trondheim Matchmaking – that TEKS arranged from 2002 to 2009. TEKS is a member of PNEK – The Norwegian Production Network for Electronic Arts. TEKS is funded by the Arts Council Norway and the Trondheim Municipalities.
